This is a fantastic post. I am a generation after the Beetles really but I remember being stood by the side of the radio when the news of John Lennon’s death was announced. I also make the use of the digital world to listen to albums that I might never have listened to without it.
Thank you Jon! Yes it’s amazing to have their whole back catalogue on streaming now so that we can hear it all. I’ve been listening to Live at the BBC just today. Brilliant
What a great digital paper, well written, researched and with good references.
It's nice seeing how their music, film, and lives have had an impact on you and your family, and will continue to in the future.
For me, it has always amazed me how a British Isles band, are so well known around the world, and of all ages. I know that if i am to play one of their songs, someone in the audience is going to know it, and maybe sing along too.
I must admit, as a teenager, i would mock a mutual friend of ours for enjoying The Beatles music, as it seemed so retro & uncool, as it wasn't in the top 40 weekly radio hits.
In a funny twist some of their songs, even though they're much older, they are more popular and modern than some songs in the top 40.
As i've got older i've learnt to appreciate their music and the culture that came with it.
I am thankful my friend introduced them to me, helping me to be open minded, and enjoy both modern and old music.

Wilfred Bramble as Paul's grandad made Hard Day's Night for me. I love the 'he's very clean' jokes, opposite of his dirty old man Steptoe role.
Yes! So funny.
