Great post as ever. Mat Baynton in Wonka! is a cracking idea, IMHO.

Just wrapped up watching Rust and Bone with Matthias Schoenaerts and Marion Cotillard and it’s the kind of film that lingers well past viewing and provokes deep thinking about triumphing past a damaged life.

Thank you Ani. I’ve added this to my watchlist. This is a good time of year for films that linger in the mind.

Glad to hear you enjoyed Wonka, The Holdovers, and Anatomy of a Fall. I haven’t seen the other two films but I agree with everything about the other three 😉 The Holdovers was particularly fun and moving in ways I didn’t expect and like you point out it forces us to consider the people in our lives that we never stopped to think about as individuals with their private lives. And by the way this is a great format to do a nice round-up of the films you’ve seen recently

Thanks so much Cristina. I’m glad the format works. That’s useful feedback thank you! I think The Holdovers was my favourite overall! What was your favourite watch this month?

Many good films this month (I’m typing this waiting for American Fiction to start 😅) but Poor Things and All of Us Strangers are probably the highlights. PT is visually stunning and it intrigued me to the point I’m now reading the novel. And All of Us Strangers is somewhat similar to Past Lives (although very different stories) and equally heartbreaking and uplifting in a strange way.

I haven’t seen any of these! I’ll get on them asap! Enjoy American fiction. Can’t wait for that one. It would be great to collab if you’re interested? I did a collab with a writer in India where they discussed their cinema going in their country. Do you think you would be interested in writing a post about cinema going culture in Spain?
