Welcome back to Popped!
Last week we looked at the world’s reaction to Alien and how it became the classic that it was. I’ve spoken to people since who didn’t see the appeal when they first saw it, others employ a blanket “Nope” when it comes to horrors, and then there are those who think that Alien and Aliens just cannot be beaten.
I’m in the latter camp, surprise surprise. It’s the dread of the unknown creeping through the runtime. It’s the everyman crew just trying to get by. It’s the way Ridley Scott manages to convey the vast loneliness of space through its claustrophobic ship. Alien is a perfect storm of filmmaking that I struggle to find fault with.

Following on from this I wanted to put together a few recommendations to continue our appreciation of the land of xenomorph’s. Along the way I have discovered a whole other film to enjoy, a documentary and some other, shorter bits and pieces.
